So... What the hell happened to Elias?

WWE aired vignettes for weeks teasing a character change and return for Elias. I love Elias and think his guitar gimmick is great, and I don't think it should be changed, but I was still intrigued to see what changes were going to be made to his character.

But it's now been weeks (months?) since the vignettes aired, and there hasn't been a single sign of Elias. Not even any of the dirt sheets are reporting on him.

Does anybody know if maybe he got injured? Or have WWE just forgotten he exists like so many other talent on their roster?

It really wouldn't surprise me to see another round of roster cuts around December/January time, and for Elias' name to be on the list. This just reminds me of Aleister Black's final days in WWE. Tons of Hype videos, a repackaging of his character, anticipation for his big return, then boom. Gone.

Not injured, not being released at all... he's just being rebranded. Character change like you said above but I agree with you, they shouldn't ditch the guitar gimmick 'cause he was good at that. They're just waiting for the right time to bring him back as I would think sometime before Survivor Series or on the night of ppv, ya never know.

And how can you be so sure he's not getting released? Main eventers like Bray Wyatt, Braun Strowman and Daniel Bryan have been released, but you think someone like Elias is safe? You have no information to support that.

I don't understand either why Elias is being given the his time in WWE "never happened" treatment. I haven't heard anything, and its a shame, because he was able to generate a response from the crowd whenever he appeared, plus was at one time one of the best heels on the roster. Perfect example is the segment he did in Seattle a few years ago. Now its like all that has been magically erased.

Bryan wasn’t released. His contract was up. He didn’t re-sign.

So far out of the list of superstars released this week, Elias is safe. Not released yet. LMAO!!!

I didn't say he WAS getting released, I said I wouldn't be surprised if he was. You then stated there was absolutely no chance he would get released, with zero facts to back up your opinion.

Bray Wyatt was a big draw and he still got released, so who knows, maybe he's next, maybe WWE is keeping him off of tv to get people to forget about him before a surprised return, or the most likely reason: Vince has forgotten about him, is preoccupied with other talent, and will probably remember Elias for a couple of weeks in the future before completely forgetting about him again.

So AEW will grab a few of these latest releases... Mia Yim and Keith Lee could both be going there but they're getting married soon so I think both of their careers may be on hold for a while anyways.
