AEW did decline while NXT saw a slight increase in total viewers. It was AEW that took the win this week in total viewership and won the key demo despite being down from last week’s high.

AEW was coming off back-to-back weeks that not only saw an increase in total viewership, but also in the key demo. Last week, AEW ranked number 2 for the night on cable.

Dynamite drew 806,000 live viewers and NXT drew 766,000 live viewers. Last week, AEW drew 995,000 while NXT drew 659,000.

AEW ranked #3 in the top 150 shows on cable while NXT was #34. As is the case in most weeks, AEW won the 18-49 demographic.

Kudos to AEW and NXT for solid ratings but I thought the addition of Sting was supposed to keep them around the 1 million mark or at least that’s the impression I got from some of the fans. Any theories as to why there was such as big drop in viewership? This isn’t me asking as a wwe fan that’s trying to push this ratings war b.s. but more so a wrestling fan in general that’s curious as to what other fans thoughts are on this.

AEW was up while NXT was down in total viewers. It was AEW that took the win this week in total viewership and won the key demo. This came just one week after Dynamite had to air at 10 pm EST due to TNT’s coverage of an NBA game between the Celtics and Bucks.

Instead of airing its originally planned show, AEW decided to do a tribute show for the late Brodie Lee, who passed away last Saturday due to a non-COVID-related lung issue.

Dynamite drew 977,000 live viewers and NXT drew 586,000 live viewers. Last week, AEW drew 775,000 while NXT drew 698,000.

The top 150 shows on cable list has yet to be released. Thus, there’s no word yet on where both shows ranked on the chart nor any other breakdowns in the demographics aside from the key demo.

AEW was down while NXT was up in total viewers. It was AEW that took the win this week in viewership and won the key demo. However, both shows appear to have been impacted by the news coverage following pro-Trump supporters invading the US Capitol.

Dynamite drew 662,000 live viewers and NXT drew 641,000 live viewers. Last week, AEW drew 977,000 while NXT drew 586,000.

AEW presented its New Year’s Smash special that was headlined by Kenny Omega defended the World Heavyweight Title against Rey Fenix while WWE NXT Champion Finn Balor defended the title against Kyle O’Reilly in the main event of the New Year’s Evil edition.

This week, the top shows on cable were all news related so that did play a factor in the numbers for AEW and NXT for a third straight week. Earlier in the day, Joe Biden was sworn in as the new President of the United States.

Dynamite drew 854,000 live viewers and NXT drew 659,000 live viewers. Last week, AEW drew 762,000 while NXT drew 551,000.

Dynamite drew 844,000 live viewers and NXT drew 610,000 live viewers. Last week, AEW drew 734,000 while NXT drew 720,000.

Re: Weekly Ratings

AEW and NXT were down in total viewers. It was AEW that took the win this week in viewership and won the key demo (18-49). Both shows had to go up against news stations covering the second impeachment trial of former US President Donald Trump, which dominated the top 20 shows on cable.

NXT was the go-home edition for Sunday’s TakeOver: Vengeance Day special.

Dynamite drew 741,000 live viewers and NXT drew 558,000 live viewers. Last week, AEW drew 844,000 while NXT drew 610,000.

AEW ranked #21 in the top 150 shows on cable while NXT was #62. Here’s the breakdown in each demo for AEW because since NXT didn’t crack the top 50 shows, there is no information regarding the other demos:

Re: Weekly Ratings

Dynamite netted 747,000 viewers for a .31 rating point in the 18-49 demographic. NXT checked in with 713,000 viewers for a .16 rating point in the same 18-49 demo.

For AEW, this is a very slight increase of about 6,000 viewers from the prior week, with a rise from last week’s 0.29 demo rating. For NXT, viewership spiked up by 155,000 viewers from the prior week, and the demo rating rebounded from last week’s 0.12.

Re: Weekly Ratings

It looks like Shaquille O’Neal gave a big boost to AEW Dynamite this week.

AEW Dynamite drew 934,000 viewers this week, their highest number of 2021 and highest since the December 30th show.  AEW ranked number 6 in the key demo and on the cable charts with a P18-49 rating of 0.33 (427,000 viewers).

Meanwhile, NXT drew a 0.20 P18-49 rating (249,000) viewers and they ranked number 19 on cable, with 692,000 viewers

Both AEW and NXT are expecting big numbers next week since AEW will be coming off the Revolution pay-per-view and NXT will deliver a stacked card headlined by Adam Cole challenging Finn Balor for the NXT Championship.
